SNAP support
SNAP help, in plain language
PIP can build plans in SNAP mode so your meals lean on foods that are typically purchasable with benefits. Rules and approved items are set by the USDA and your state agency, so use the official links below to confirm anything before you shop.
What SNAP covers
The USDA lists which foods can be purchased with SNAP benefits, including produce, meat, dairy, breads, and seeds or plants that produce food. Hot prepared foods and non food items are not covered.
USDA eligible food itemsApply in your state
SNAP is run by each state agency. Use the USDA state directory to find your local office, application, and phone number.
State agency directoryFind stores that accept SNAP
The USDA retailer locator maps grocery stores, markets, and farm stands near you that accept EBT.

Many markets match SNAP dollars for fresh produce through incentive programs. Availability varies by market and state.
SNAP at farmers marketsHow PIP handles SNAP information
- PIP marks each meal as SNAP eligible, not SNAP eligible, or needs verification.
- PIP never guarantees eligibility for a specific product or store. Items marked needs verification should be confirmed with your state agency or the retailer.
- Turning on SNAP mode in the plan builder uses the state saved on your PIP profile so guidance stays relevant to where you live.
- Your SNAP details are stored with your account and are never shared publicly.
